The Rough Phases Every Relationship Has To Go Through To Last Forever
A healthy relationship is a gift we give ourselves and something we need to work hard to achieve. Nobody wants a sad unhappy relationship. But, we often find ourselves at stages in our relationships that make us unhappy.
These stages are nothing but tests to see if our relationships are strong enough to overcome these or will we just take the easy way out and end our relationship. Rough patches or stages come in every marriage and relationship. We have to find a way out of them. If they weren’t there then relationships would become stale and boring.
1Getting attracted to someone else
Being attracted to someone else while in a relationship is completely normal. Whether you’re the guy or the girl in the relationship you might find someone a bit more attractive or interesting than your partner. This is not cheating. It depends on how you act on your feelings. You can easily be friends with the person you are attracted to while staying within your boundaries.
2How this can affect a relationship
Normally people don’t feel insecure while in a relationship. They trust their partners and are happy to be with them. But, if one partner has feelings for someone else, this may cause problems. Nobody wants to feel insecure in their relationship and if you keep talking about that one person you like, this may make them feel that way. You need to take responsibility for your feelings and know exactly what you’re doing.
To have a strong relationship you firstly need acceptance – acceptance in the form of you knowing very well who you’re with. You cannot claim to love someone and not accept them for who they are. You can try to change aspects of the people you love, everyone does that but you cannot love someone without accepting them. You cannot just take the good and leave out the bad.
4Where this does not work
Now, we’ve said that you need to fully accept the good and bad of the person you love but this does not apply to bad relationships and abusive partners. You cannot be in a relationship with someone who does bad things to you or treats you like trash and you keep loving them for who they are. This is wrong and will take a toll on you mentally. You should not willingly accept bad people and love them for who they are.
Forgiveness is something really important in a relationship. We are all humans and we make mistakes and it is our duty to forgive those who we love. We cannot think of love if we are incapable of forgiving. We need to learn to forgive and forget to have a strong relationship. That is the only way we can hope our relationship lasts.
