The Truth About ‘Gaslighting’ The Psychological abuse That Will Manipulate And Drive You Crazy
6There are two levels
There are two levels when it comes to ‘gaslighting’. You can keep it simple and just manipulate someone into believing what you want them to believe. The second level is much more difficult to get to as it involves making the victim live in a reality you created. Not only is this more complex but if you are trying to reach the second level you cannot start out with the first one.
7What you need to know
‘Gaslighting’ is not an easy process but it can be done easily by anyone who is confident when they lie and can make up lies on the spot. They can manipulate anyone with their words and make you believe what they want you too. Once under their control, all your needs wants, desires, etc. will become irrelevant.
8What does one get by doing it?
The simple answer to this question is, everything they want. They break down a person mentally to a point where they can be manipulated to do anything the abuser is asking for. In many situations, the abuser is void of all responsibilities and in fact, plays the victim in front of the real victim who sympathizes and does everything asked for.
9Confrontation is useless
If you ever feel like you’re a victim in a ‘gaslighting’ situation and you want to confront whoever you think is manipulating you, you are making a mistake. They will never admit to anything and instead will blame it on your or your paranoia. There is no easy way to get out of this other than breaking off all contact from the person you think is manipulating you.
10Signs to look out for
There are many signs that point to the fact that someone is ‘gaslighting’ you. They will be inconsistencies between whatever they say or promise and what they end up doing. You should also always trust your gut feeling. It is the best detector of inconsistencies and will warn you when something seems off.
