12 Reasons Why French Kids Don’t Throw Tantrums
Kids in France are well known to be active, brainy and well behaved. They are polite while greeting the neighbors, and they rarely ever get fussy and eat what they are served. They are also known to be less naughty. Here’s how French woman raise their kid’s if you are wondering how these children can be so wonderful compared to other children elsewhere:
1 Young mothers have short maternity leave
In less than 10 weeks after giving birth, young mothers in France tend to get back to work. Extending their stay at home would only incur large financial expense. Although, the law in France states that a mother can look after her child for more than 10 weeks while still having secure employment. But, she will have to give up her salary and receive a social allowance instead.
2Children are taken to a nursery
The child will be taken to a nursery at the end of their mother’s maternity leave, whereby the child will be surrounded by new people from a young age enabling him/her to become independent and adaptable much quicker.
3Children are made to sleep alone
Children sleep in separate bedrooms in their own beds. They are taught this from a young age and even if a child wakes up during the night and begins to cry, mothers only check on them after waiting for a few seconds and making sure that their presence is absolutely necessary. This way the child gets used to sleeping alone.
4French kids are granted complete freedom by their parents
Total freedom is given to kids by French parents. In fact, it’s highly unlikely that you will see a French parent having fun with their kid on the playground. Neither do they interfere in between kids conflicts, preferring to let them resolve the issue themselves. However, a line should be set between really bad behavior and innocent pranks. Punishing a child for bad behavior will help them learn the difference and not repeat it again.
