10 Ways to Deal When Your Child Acts like a “Monster”
8Be consistent with your demands and patterns of behavior
Parents should be stable and consistent in their approach towards daily habits and behaviours. If they keep changing the rules every other day, the child gets confused and can turn manipulative. The rules of the house should be adhered to by all.
A Child should know that they will get punished for not following rules which has got nothing to do with the mood of the parents. Parents must stick to their decision and not let them go if they do not feel like dealing with the problem on a specific day.
9Show your child that you’re the boss
A child must understand that you are more than just friends that they can turn to when they need help but you are their parent and in charge. You will have to make unpopular decisions sometimes for the good of the kid. The child must understand your authority and your opinion outweighs theirs. Children must see you as a responsible and exemplary leader of the pack so that they wish to emulate you and never dare to disrespect you and break rules.
10Teach your child how to appreciate the good things in their life
Over abundance often makes kids unappreciative and ungracious of their privileges. They become to materialistic and place more importance to gifts rather than actions and happy memories or family activities.
Reward them with activities
Begin early by teaching them to say please and thank you for everything they get. This will teach them gratitude. Instead of always giving them gifts or cash rather gift them experiences like camping, fishing etc.
