For centuries, man has struggled with baldness. There have been countless of age-old remedies to promote hair growth including the modern ones among which many don’t work because how do you combat baldness. There are so many factors that contribute to baldness and even now researchers are struggling to identify what exactly leads to such dramatic hair loss to the extent of growing bald. But now researchers have come up with something they feel will be a remedy for baldness and that’s growing new hair through the scaffolding method.

1Hair scaffolding is the latest method discovered by scientists

Hair scaffolding is the method of using embedded stem cells that promote patterned and uniform cell growth for hair and this brings clinical usage one step closer to addressing the problem. Scientists feel that now a cure for baldness is just a hairbreadth away and the main obstacle researchers claim has been overcome.

2The main obstacles has been overcome

Till now one of the main problems in the research for curing baldness was finding ways to cultivate human hair follicles from stem cells. This is what scientists have managed to do so. Till now, researchers only managed to grow hair from cells that had the ability to transform themselves into any part of the human body but there was no control over the process. Now, a US team has developed a unique system that actually guides and instructs the cells to implant and develop uniformly in a pattern resembling hair growth and natural hair production.

3Scientists used biodegradable scaffolds

The method has used a biodegradable scaffold that has been structured from materials that are used in dissolvable surgical stitches used in surgeries and injuries to close wounds. The biodegradable scaffold helped human cells integrate with a mouse subject.

4Research presented at the ISSCR

The research study was presented at the International society for stem cell research ISSCR in Los Angeles, USA. The scientists have described it as a vital breakthrough in the cure for baldness and natural hair regrowth. If used commercially, it could save people millions that are spent in curing baldness. Said Alexey Terskikh of Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in California. “Our new protocol. overcomes key technological challenges that kept our discovery from real-world use.”
