1Working at a nail salon is harmful
Nail salons are often chirpy places where women get their nails done and socialize. But can you imagine that the air is dangerously toxic there? If you work in a nail salon, your life is at risk. Scientists from the University of Colorado studied the air quality at 6 different nail salons and the results will shock you.
The studies found that the air in these places was full of formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, etc. These are mostly present in nail paints and nail polish removers. The amount in which these toxic elements were present greatly increased the risk of developing nasopharynx cancer and leukaemia, among other types of cancer. Breathing this air for 20 years would increase the chance of cancer by 100 times.
Who is at threat?
The study mentioned clearly that customers are not at risk unless they have asthma or an allergy. The people who were at risk were the employees. Most employees said that they suffered from eye and skin irritations and headaches regularly. Experts declared that working here was the equivalent of working in an oil refinery. If you work at a nail salon, please find another job.
4Sunscreen can be dangerous
Some experts at the US FDA conducted a study to see how sunscreen interacts with the body. The results were shocking. After applying sunscreen 4 times a day for a week, they found that the active ingredients of the product leached into the bloodstream. Their blood contained higher amounts of these substances than were considered safe.
