The Pentagon has been working on developing hypersonic weapons in recent years and According to Defence Secretary Mark Espers, it is just a matter of years before the US has one. He has termed it a priority for the military to develop new long range fire capabilities.

With Russia becoming the first country to possess a hypersonic weapon, this sparks off another nuclear arms race for a new class of weapons and one wonders what next ideas will governments think or conceive with the potential to destroy the planet.
