Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Welcome Their First Child
Since Meghan is a US citizen and Prince Harry is a British royal, the child has been born with dual citizenships. Even Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, sent his wishes and congratulations to the happy couple from his home in Mexico. He said that he knows the child will grow up and serve the crown with grace, dignity and honor.
12Keeping it a secret
The reason why Meghan’s pregnancy was in the news for so long is that the family was keeping the news private. This is because they knew if they had told the media all the details they would crowd around the hospitals, waiting for a photo or word from the family members which would inconvenience a lot of people.
13Handling the media smartly
Buckingham Palace made it clear from the start that they would be withholding information from the media and public until the right moment. At 14:00 BST on Monday, Buckingham Palace announced that the Duchess had gone into labor. It was only 40 minutes later that the confirmation was sent about the baby’s arrival.
14What did this prevent?
At the risk of making Meghan’s pregnancy seem to last an eternity, the Buckingham Palace handled the media very well and didn’t give the British circus of journalists, royal superfans, photographers, days to wait gawking at the hospital doors. This would be very inconvenient for the other patients admitted there.
15Congratulations from others
Prime Minister Theresa May congratulated the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their first birth and wished them a very happy time. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn congratulated the couple and hoped they were doing okay. Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that this was a joyful occasion for the couple and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby who had married the couple also shared his congratulations and prayed that God blessed the couple and their child.
