1 Spinal Strain
Statistics prove that several people worldwide spend a great deal of time sitting down all day. The experts say that sitting down all day is an unnatural position that was never meant for humans at all. We were not physiologically evolved to exert such pressure on our spine. The human spine is shaped like an S and it can withstand strain but in a sitting position, this turns into a C shape. During slouching, the stomach muscles get weaker and cannot hold up the body form without additional training or strengthening the muscles.
What happens when you sit?
When sitting down, the pelvis and vertebral spine takes all of the strain increasing pressure again on the intervertebral discs. The constant and frequent strain entraps the cervical vertebrae and leads to a reduction of blood flow to the brain. This, in turn, causes blurred vision and headaches. Your spine is a framework of all your inner organs and this is why it is important to maintain a straight position and no exert any pressure on it.

One of the worst problems of leading a sedentary lifestyle is the high risk of heart conditions like coronary heart disease, and chronic hypertension. Frequent sitting all day and no physical activity weakens your muscles and reduces blood circulation. It also reduces the tone of your blood vessels. One of the conditions that can result from no physical activity is early atherosclerosis which is an increase of cholesterol plaques in the blood vessels of the heart. It also leads to an imbalance between consumption and supply of oxygen where the heart requires more oxygen than the blood is transporting.
Studies involving more than 17,000 people over a period of 13 years found that those who lived sedentary lifestyles increased their risk of dying from a heart attack in comparison to those who were active.
Varicose veins are another condition that affects those who live sedentary lifestyles and sit all day. This happens because of bad blood circulation in the lower limbs which lead to the development of varicose veins. The condition affects both men and women but women are at greater risk than men. Varicose veins can also be a hereditary condition. Sitting for long periods with your legs crosses can also result in varicose veins because the veins get squeezed causing blood congestion in the legs in various areas.
