10 Not So Innocent Hygienic Habits That Are Secretly Ruining Our Health
8Keeping your phone in your purse
It is natural to think that your clean and private purse or the backpack is the safest place to keep your phone and save it from the dust and toxins but unfortunately it does not work that way. It is always better to put your phone in your pocket or in its case instead. This way it will be less contaminated because an average phone is 10 times dirtier than the toilet seat so wipe your phone with a wet wipe every day.
9Cleaning winter clothes in spring
Yes, we all are guilty of that; we dump our winter clothes in the laundry basket deciding to wash them when the spring arrives with the new lot of clothes. But it is a wrong move because items like hair caps, gloves and socks should be washed every once or two weeks. As we know, these are the garments which are in constant contact with our skin, mouths and nose most of the time. They keep accumulating germs which will seriously tarnish our resistance to fight against infections.
10Defrosting food at room temperature
Defrosting or thawing frozen food by leaving them in room temperature is probably the silliest thing which we can possibly do to jeopardise our health. The temperatures, humidity level and obviously the exposure to germs and bacteria are trebled if we do this. Leaving raw meat or fish on kitchen table is simply dangerous. It is advisable to defrost these items in the refrigerator itself.
11Share your food with your friends — it’s good for your health
It may sound counterintuitive that it’s actually safer to share our meals with our close friends and family but it is true. By sharing food in a clean environment from clean containers, we actually exchange good bacteria along with great food. But there is a catch. Your friends need to be healthy themselves because it would be really stupid to this ritual with someone who is obviously sick.
