Our world today is mostly sitting down. Be it in school, college or the workplace. We’re all sitting down for most of the day. Sure, we go to the gym for an hour but that isn’t enough. We may take care of our body and diet but there is one thing we all are missing.
That is a good stretch. See, when we sit for hours our muscles tighten. After that, if we go to the gym then these muscles come under a lot of pressure. Not stretching our muscles makes them tight which reduces mobility and makes us slow. Not to mention can lead to muscle pain.
1Back extension stretch
This is one of the best stretching exercises to perform if you’re suffering from back pain. It is very easy to do and helps stretch your back muscles. This will help reduce the stress and pressure your back has sustained from an entire day’s work. This also helps with any pain in your shoulders and lower back. Be aware if you feel any discomfort you should stop.
2How it is performed
Get on the floor with your stomach touching the ground and arms by your side. Place your arms beside your chest palms facing the ground. Push your body off the ground but not like you’re doing a push-up. Your hips and legs should be touching the ground and only your body should be up in the air. Hold for 30 seconds then take a break and then repeat 3 times. Once you get used to it you can hold for longer.
3Seated spinal twist
This exercise will help you lessen the pressure on your lower back and will make your hips more flexible. This will also affect your shoulders, chest, and spine. This exercise will stretch all the muscles in your back and you will feel some comfort. It is easy to perform and will not take much time.
4How you can do it
Sit on a flat surface, preferably the floor. Keep your legs straight and back firm as you breathe in and out. Bend one knee and place it over the other. If you bend your right knee and place it over your left leg then you need to move your left arm and upper body to your right side. This will help stretch and relax your back muscles.
5Side lunge stretch
This exercise is good for your legs. This is for those who work in the office and sit for hours on end. These people will suffer from tight hips, less flexibility and walking for too long will prove to be painful for them. They need to practice this exercise if they want to be in good physical condition.
