5One may even think they hear sounds

Researchers suggest it could be a disturbance in the area of our brains called the parietal cortex which triggers these “intruder” type hallucinations of SP. The disruption of the temporoparietal junction (TPJ) could be inducing the illusion of another shadow-like person that mimics nothing but your own body postures. This also led research to believe that the same factor (hyperactivity of temporoparietal cortex in schizophrenics) could be the reason for their misattribution of their own actions and words to others.

In the Incubus type of category, one gets the feeling of being smothered, strangled and physically assaulted. Moreover, you may suffer the hallucination of a demon sitting at the foot of your bed or that someone is sitting on your chest making breathing difficult.

8Vestibular-motor

This category differs a great deal from the other two and may make one experience the hallucination or sensation of flying, spinning, floating and hovering over the bed. This may well have given rise to the age-old parapsychic  OBE or out of body experience.  Science may have just found the first steps to explain what many believe to be a spiritual or metaphysical experience such as the concept of the astral body and astral projection.
