5Plastic bottle fruit picker

You will need a 2-liter plastic soft drink bottle like a coke bottle or a packaged water bottle. Place the bottle upside down and cut as shown in the picture in the upper middle section of the bottle. The hole should be large enough to grab an orange or apple from a tree. Once you cut the aperture, now place a long stick into the nozzle of the bottle and there you have it, your homemade fruit picker. Just get the fruit into the hole and pull it down.

6Strawberry container

When You buy strawberries or blueberries from a store, don’t throw away the container. Just place a damp napkin in the bottom of the container, and add some broccoli seeds. Now shut the container and place in a sunny area. Within 10 days you will see sprouted seeds and is a great way to plant microgreens. Instead of throwing them away, you can turn your plastic bottles into a makeshift greenhouse. You will need the larger 2-liter bottles for this. Just fill the bottle with 1/4th water. Now place some sprouting seeds into the bottle and shake so that all get covered with water.

8Rice water for starting corn

Don’t throw away the water when you boil rice. Just strain your rice water and then pour it into a plastic bottle or container. Now place an ear of corn into it but it should not be submerged into the water. Now place the bottle in the sun for around 30-50 days. You will soon see some tiny stalks forming after which you can transplant them in a pot or garden.
