Meet The Woman Who Quit Her Successful Job To Build Sustainable Bamboo Homes In Bali
6What does sustainable mean?
The term sustainable is used in the sense of sustainable development. Sustainable development is a pattern of development which allows development for the present but only after ensuring that there is enough left for future generations to survive on.
7Why has no one done this before?
This is exactly what Elora wondered too when she saw her dad implementing this idea. She wondered why no one else had thought of this, especially because it made perfect sense. Nevertheless, she took up the idea herself and immediately started planning how she would go about implementing it.
8The houses she built
The bamboo houses she built in Bali, look futuristic and gorgeous. Having a background in designing, she clearly knows how to create gorgeous designs. Each house is unique and serene. It’s made of nothing but bamboo yet it feels premium and luxurious. Whoever gets to live here is very lucky indeed because it would be a dream for people to take time off in a house like this.
9What should the residents feel?
According to Elora, the people who are living in the houses should feel a sense of optimism, like there’s “hope and possibility and magic in the world.” She believes that the experience people have living in a building is much more important than what the building looks like. The buildings truly look and feel nothing short of magical.
10Higher-end bamboo buildings
Elora designed and created a yoga pavilion and a riverside cooking classroom at the Four Seasons in Bali. She has also designed the interior of the Tri restaurant in Hong Kong, the treehouse suites in Bambu Indah and has designed furniture for the Como Marketplace in Singapore. All this was designed using bamboo.
