How Kate Middleton Could Inherit Princess Diana’s Royal Title
When you hear the phrase ‘Princess of Wales’ there is just one person who comes to mind, the late Princess Diana. She took the title when she married Prince Charles and all her work for the people and in charities made the world know her name along with this title. Unfortunately, titles do change hands.
There will come a time when the Queen passes away and her heir Prince Charles takes her place as monarch of the United Kingdom. During this time the world will be waiting to see if Kate accepts the title of Princess of Wales and continues the good work Princess Diana did or uses her old title in honor of Princess Diana.
1Becoming the Duchess of Cambridge
Catherine Elizabeth Middleton grew up in a village called Chapel Row which is near Newbury, Berkshire, England. She met Prince William in 2001 and 9 years later the two got engaged and a year later, tied the knot on April 19th, 2011. This made her the Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate at the moment holds the title of Duchess of Cambridge because her husband Prince William is the current Duke of Cambridge. Reports have it that Prince William is expected to become the king of the United Kingdom in the near future which will make Catherine a likely future Queen consort.
3Princess of Wales
Before Kate is honored with the title of Queen consort of the United Kingdom, there is another title she may receive. The title she may inherit one day is Princess Diana’s former title – Princess of Wales. Titles in the Royal family keep changing and family members inherit new ones as the years go by.
4How did Princess Diana gain the title?
Princess Diana received the title of Princess of Wales just like Kate received the title of Duchess of Cambridge. Diana was the first wife of Charles who was already the Prince of Wales. Once they were married she received the title of Princess of Wales. Along with the title of Princess of Wales, she was also given the title of Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay, and Countess of Chester.
5Her new title
Recently, Kate was honored with a new title. Queen Elizabeth took the honor of rewarding Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge with the new title of Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO). This was awarded to her because of her tireless work in the past eight years as a high-ranking member in the royal family.
