By the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, there were many new musical artists that were gracing our radios. Now over two decades later where are they?

She was a pop icon of the 1980s and all her albums released during that time were major hits with both critics and fans. She experimented with different sounds and incorporated elements of rhythm and blues, funk, disco, rap and industrial beats that gave her mainstream success. Since the 2000s to 2015, she released only 4 albums but is still a legend in the industry.

2AvrilLavigne

Her debut album came out in 2002 titled ‘Let Go’ and was an instant hit giving her the title of ‘Pop Punk Queen’. Her follow up album ‘Under My Skin’ was an even bigger hit but her third would see a change in direction. Her third and fourth featured a more pop sound which was not that well-received by critics and fans even though it did sell well. 2019 saw the release of her sixth studio album, ‘Head Above Water’.

He will always be known as a one-hit-wonder as his only best-known song is ‘Ice Ice Baby’ which released in 1990. He was able to develop an underground following and shifted to hosting TV shows. In 2009, Ice began hosting The Vanilla Ice Project on DIY Network and in 2011 released his album ‘WTF – Wisdom, Tenacity & Focus’.

4Spice Girls

The group was formed in 1994 with Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham. The group was a huge hit with their debut album ‘Spice’ selling over 31 million copies. The group stayed together from its formation till 2001 then disbanded with each member starting their own solo career. They regrouped from 2007-2008 and then again in 2012 and again in 2018 till now.

The English singer rose to fame in 2004 with the release of his album ‘Back to Bedlam’. It was also one of the best-selling albums of the 2000s in the UK and is one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history. He released another five albums with his most recent release being in 2019.
